Iain is Chief
Risk Officer, Canada and Global Head of Operational Risk for Canada Life, an
international life assurance and wealth management group, and is based in
Toronto.
Iain’s
working career includes working as an auditor and corporate financier at
Deloitte, a securities regulator at the London Stock Exchange and subsequently
as an insurance regulator for the UK Financial Services Authority. Iain has been CRO with a number of UK and
international companies and is an experienced chair of Risk and Audit
Committees.
Iain is a
Chartered Accountant, a Certified Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management
and recent Chair of the IRM Board.
Simone is the Associate Dean for the MSc
Programmes and Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Insurance at Bayes
Business School (formerly Cass).
Before joining academia, Simone worked for
more than 10 years in the insurance industry in several positions such as
underwriting and controlling. Simone joined the Centre for Risk and Insurance
at Leibniz University of Hannover as a Lecturer and Researcher in insurance,
where she led several projects and successful grant applications. In 2012
Simone moved to London to help start up University of East Anglia’s London
campus before joining Westminster Business School as a Senior Lecturer in
Finance. In 2018 Simone joined Bayes’ Faculty of Actuarial Science and
Insurance.
Simone’s research interests are
particularly in the area of organisational insurance demand, ESG in insurance
as well as export credit insurance. She also provides consulting and training
in her area of expertise.
Simone holds a doctoral degree (Dr. rer.
pol.) and a German University degree (Diplom Ökonom) in Business and Economics
from the Leibniz University of Hannover, is a Fellow at the Institute for Trade
and Innovation at Offenburg University and Associate of the House of Insurance
at the Leibniz University of Hannover. She
is also a certified insurance professional (Versicherungskauffrau, Chamber of
Industry and Commerce).
