Chair
Antony has recently retired after a career
in finance. His final role was as the
first Director of Finance with the Institute of Risk Management.
He trained in the accounting profession
with firms in London before moving into the commercial sector. He worked with a large family company for
many years, which included many varied roles.
In particular he managed the family grant making charity, which gave him
extensive exposure to the charity sector, whilst giving away over £25m to good
causes.
He has had
roles as trustee, treasurer and chair in a number of charities, some of which
continue to this day.
He is a Fellow
of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and the
Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Clive retired in 2022 from wtw, a risk financing and insurance consultant in the City of London. He worked in insurance and risk management of some sort for over 40 years, living and working in both Africa and the Caribbean, before taking up global consulting roles from the UK.
He worked on financing risk in many sectors such as pharmaceuticals, minerals extraction, transport and in the finance and services sector.
He has been a member of the IRM for 30 years and served on the board of the Institute from 2014 to 2020. Following his retirement he was the part time Technical Adviser to IRM, editing and updating IRM’s core textbook and recently wrote a book on the history of the IRM where all proceeds go to the Educational Foundation.
He is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute as well as a Fellow of the IRM.
Andrea has worked in education marketing for over 20
years in a range of settings including both public and private universities,
for-profit education providers and media agencies. She is currently the Chief
Marketing Officer for Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur and recently completed
her doctorate with Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Before heading to Malaysia,
Andrea was Marketing Director for Cambridge Education Group, leading the global
marketing and strategic development of the Group's academic brands; CATS
International Schools, Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts (CSVPA)
and ONCAMPUS International Foundation centres.
Andrea specialises in transforming educational marketing from transactional
outreach into relationship-driven community building. At Alice Smith School,
she has developed integrated family journeys from initial inquiry through
alumni engagement, positioning the school as Malaysia's top school for
brand equity. Her approach combines market intelligence with emotional
intelligence to create personalised experiences that resonate across diverse
stakeholder groups, consistently achieving both enrolment targets and deep
community engagement.
Zanele Ida Makhubo is a Certified Fellow (CFIRM) of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) in the UK and a distinguished leader in the fields of Ethics, Risk Management, Business Continuity, Anti-Corruption, Governance, and Disaster Management. With over 24 years of experience in the public sector, Zanele has established herself as a thought leader and advocate for embedding Enterprise-Wide Risk Management and fostering a culture of resilience and agility in addressing global risk trends.
Currently serving as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Director of Ethics/Integrity Management, Risk Management, and Anti-Corruption (ERA) at the Gauteng Department of Human Settlement, Zanele is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing effective ERA programs across the department and its five regions. Her work includes promoting ethical behaviour, developing risk frameworks, ensuring compliance, and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
Zanele is also a seasoned speaker, panellist, and programme director, having contributed to numerous risk management conferences and events across South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, France, and international webinars. Her expertise spans topics such as resilience strategies, disaster management, operational risk, and the importance of risk management in public sector organizations.
In addition to her professional achievements, Zanele has held leadership roles in various committees and forums, including serving as the Interim Chairperson of the Risk and Ethics Management Committee for Gauteng Provincial Treasury and Chairperson of the Business Continuity Management Steering Committee. She is also the Chairperson of the Institute of Risk Management UK – SA Regional Group, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing the risk management profession globally.
Zanele holds multiple qualifications, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Disaster Management, a Diploma in Business Continuity, and a Senior Executive Route certification from IRM UK. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Psychology with majors in Psychology and Counselling. Her dedication to professional development and mentoring has earned her accolades, including the Department of Housing Women’s Award for mentoring and coaching.
Zanele’s vision is to utilize her extensive experience and skills to enhance shareholder value and drive sustainable risk management practices. Her passion for ethical leadership and resilience continues to inspire professionals in the risk management community worldwide.
